Every Tuesday night there is a beginner's class at 8pm, which lasts for about 40 minutes, and it is set up for complete beginners that haven't danced before. It doesn't matter if you have two left feet we'll teach you how to jive. You will learn four beginner jive moves that make up a routine to get you started. After the lesson there is dancing to a full disco or you can go with the jive coaches and practise the routine over again. The jive coaches are friendly and helpful and the full disco plays a variety of enjoyable jive music covering a range of tastes from pop, blues, swing, rock, fifties etc.
At 9pm there is an intermediate jive class for those who have done at least five or more beginner classes, or people can wait longer than five weeks if they don't feel confident enough to join in. After the intermediate class there is more dancing to the full disco until 11pm
We have jiver's from the ages of sixteen to sixties and they all have great fun. It is an aerobic form of exercise so if you have any joint, muscular, circulation or breathing conditions then please check with your doctor first. Some people wear casual and some smart casual. Footwear: shoes that slide but don't slip or grip. No stilettos or trainers please and preferably shoes that support the feet. Talk to the jive class teachers about footwear if unsure, as they are always pleased to offer advice. Cost would be £6.00 per evening. You don't have to book, just turn up any nights as you can join in the beginner's class at any time
